Avotec finalist for SPIE 2016 Prism Awards

Avotec Inc., 603 N.W. Buck Hendry Way, Stuart, announced it is a finalist for the SPIE 2016 Prism Awards.

Avotec designs, manufactures and sells specialized audio, visual and eye-tracking systems for magnetic resonance imaging. SPIE is an international society for optics and photonics; the Prism Awards for Photonics Innovation is an international competition honoring the best new photonics products on the market.

Avotec won the finalist position in the biomedical division for its Real Eye Nanoeye tracking system, a specialized product developed for high field neuroimaging at 7 Tesla. This type of neuroimaging is the basis for functional MRI which enables imaging of brain function in real time.

The Prism Award winners will be announced Feb. 17.
