Would you like to pick the fMRI system you want?

Assembling the tools needed for fMRI research is a time consuming and often frustrating task. Even a conceptually simple task like presenting images gets bogged down in questions about MR compatibility, hardware choices, and interfacing issues. And every time you change your research, start a new collaboration, or use a new magnet, you have to repeat the process.

In-Control™ is the modular approach to fMRI work. You only purchase what you need, when you need it. This means you can specify the hardware and software you would like to use for your fMRI work. Unlike packaged systems, In-Control does not ask you to compromise on the tools that work best for you.

  • Stimulation delivery devices are the heart of In-Control. For visual stimulation, Avotec offers three types of our popular Silent Vision ™visual systems; two LCD projection systems and one fiber optic system. For audio stimulation, there are two choices of the Silent Scan™ audio systems.

  • Successful fMRI depends on linking the scanner time base with the stimulus time base. Avotec’s True Trigger™ trigger interface
interfaces with both optical or electrical scanner trigger outputs.

  • Patient monitoring is another critical aspect of fMRI. Avotec can supply your choice of patient response pads. For more sophisticated applications, consider Avotec’s Real Eye™ eye monitoring systems, which also enable video based eye tracking applications.

  • Avotec will work with you to assemble a computer system for your stimulus design and delivery needs, as well as for post-processing needs. Avotec will also install, integrate and test your choice of software applications for these functions.

  • And In-Control is backed by Avotec, Incorporated, supplier of the most reliable and innovative MR-compatible systems in the world for over fifteen years.

In-Control is a modular approach to assembling an fMRI system for the experienced user. After working with you to specify all elements of your fMRI system, Avotec will completely assemble and test the system, before delivering you a turn-key solution.

Typical elements of an fMRI system include:
visual presentation. Avotec offers three types of Silent Vision™ visual presentation systems:

SV-5400 is a composite video (400x600) resolution LCD projector. This system is a good choice for sites that will be doing primarily non-fMRI clinical work where having an easy-to-use, movie capable system is useful.

SV-6011 is an XVGA resolution (1024x763) LCD projection system. This offers the same ease of use as the SV-5400, while offering the kind of resolution demanded by research applications. The SV-6011 (and the SV-5400) system can be combined with the RE-5601™ eye monitoring system to enable eye tracking applications.

SV-7021 is a high resolution, binocular fiber optic system. These high resolution (1024x763) fiber optic glasses are all glass-plastic construction, so they are truly MR inert. This immunity to field strength, as well as their compact size, makes them the choice for demanding research applications. When integrated with the RE-4601/4621 Real Eye™ monitoring system, simultaneous binocular stimulation and eye tracking is possible.

Audio stimulation Choose from the Silent Scan™ audio systems. The SS-3000 is a clinically oriented audio system. The SS-3100 adds a equalization filtering, plus full calibration. Silent Scan headsets offer optimal noise reduction.

Trigger input Successful fMRI depends on linking the scanner time base with the stimulus time base. Avotec’s True Trigger™ trigger interface interfaces with both optical or electrical scanner trigger outputs.

Patient response / monitoring is another critical aspect of fMRI. Avotec can supply your choice of patient response pads. For more sophisticated applications, consider Avotec’s Real Eye™ eye monitoring systems, which also enable video based eye tracking applications.

Computers Avotec will work with you to assemble a computer system for your stimulus design and delivery needs, as well as for post-processing needs. All aspects are considered from CPU, to memory requirements, to I/O, audio and video cards, and power supplies.

Software Avotec will also install, integrate and test your choice of software applications for both paradigm design and delivery, as well as for post-processing.
